Wheeling Heritage Bike Trail Bicycle Tour

The Walkable Wheeling Task Force, a group consisting of local community and business members, is developing an annual bicycle tour of the Wheeling Heritage Bike Trail system to celebrate the existing trail and encourage future trail development and use.
The date is set for Sunday, May 27, 2007, at Heritage Port in Wheeling from 12p.m. to 5p.m. Long distance riders will start at 11am. This is a non-race event for cyclists, walkers, runners, rollerbladers and other trail enthusiasts.
Pre-Registration is $20 ($25 on the day of the event). The family fee is $10 for each additional family member to a maximum of $50. Children under 12 are free but must be accompanied by a registered adult.
Registration covers a pre-tour bicycle safety check, snacks at rest stops along the way, lunch, t-shirts to the first 200 pre-registered, and ride assistance provided by Quick Service Bicycle Shop and Wheelcraft. The tour will take place rain or shine!
Cyclists will choose one of three rides that may include the eastern section of the trail as well as the Brooke Pioneer Club Trail into Brooke County as far north as Wellsburg.
Ride distances will be 1-10 miles, 10-25 miles, and 50 miles. We will also visit future trail expansion sites. Participants will return to Heritage Port for lunch.
