UPDATED From the mailbag - A suggestion for upcoming Wednesday night rides

ORIGINAL POST

In response to the growing demand in making Wednesday nights more like happy hour, John Cusack has invested in PedalPub to bring the dream to reality in the Wheeling area. With the growing number of Wheeling cyclists complaining that Wednesday nights are too hard, while some want a warm-up and other just want a nice easy ride, Cusack believes the market is ripe for this new business. PedalPub will only offer premium quality draft beer and once a month, it will offer the best of the local brewed beer. We're even considering making changes to the vehicles structure so that we can enclose it for the winter months. This way the boys can train all winter long on the PedalPub Mobile and bring their wives along for the ride too.

Please take some time out of your busy schedule and view our website. www.pedalpub.com

We look forward to serving you in 2007.

Finally, thank you to all those that are making this dream come true.

John Cusack

AL FROM PEDALPUB.COM RESPONDS

I don't know about Wheeling or John Cusack, but the PedalPub really IS coming to Minneapolis on March 27!

If John would like to partner with us in bringing one to Wheeling, we'd be happy to talk to him!

MY RESPONSE TO AL

Al,

It was intended to be a joke from John. I did provide the link to your site, and I published your response. As for the Pedalpub, we are planning a trail festival in May, but I don't know if West Virginia liquor laws allow open containers.

Thanks

Ray

AL'S RESPONSE TO MY RESPONSE

Ray-
I thought it was funny, and as they say, all publicity is good publicity! As for our offer, it stands! If John wants to bring one to Wheeling, we're ready to wheel and deal, as the manufacturer's sole distributor in the United States.... :-D
- Al

PS - If we can get alcohol on the PedalPub on Minneapolis public streets, we should be able to get it ANYWHERE! Minneapolis is VERY conservative on that matter. We're still working that out here now.
PPS - My best to John! I'm a big fan! Tell him he can have a free PedalPub ride next time he's in Minneapolis!

The Bipolar Trail - North Bend Rail Trail

North Bend Rail Trail We drove from Wheeling, WV to the trail head outside of Clarksburg, WV, a two hour drive. The plan was to ride from Clarksburg to Parkersburg, stay overnight, and return the next day. The first few miles of the North Bend Rail Trail started out promisingly. From the Wolf Summit eastern terminus the double track trail is comprised of gravel. The trail soon turned into a challenging combination of flooded sections, flooded tunnels, single track, and finally the joy of riding on trail sections completely overgrown by grass (with ruts thrown in to make it interesting). We even interrupted a few people mowing the section of the trail that ran through their back yard. We also experienced mechanical issues, unrelated to the trail, but none the less frustrating. Several flats and the loosening of the rack attachment points on my Lemond resulted in the rack clanking for 3/4 of the ride were annoyances that we could have done without. After 29 miles we reached the town of G...

Wednesday Night Ride Report

We had four people for the Wednesday night ride. Kevin, Doug, Sarah, and I rode 32 miles. We rode the trail from Elm Grove to Wheeling, then continued up to the Brooke county line. On the return down the river we decided to ride up 1st Street towards North Park. Then we turned onto Mt Wood Road down to National Road and the Indian. We then rode down Wheeling Hill past Fulton, through Woodsdale, where Sarah left us, and down National Road to Elm Grove. Weather was nice, it was cool and clear.
