Had a great time with my son, Seth, at the Findley Connector event yesterday. Weather was sunny & in the low 60's. Road was very nice & perfect for Seth in that the hills were not too bad at all (maybe 3% at most). We did 9 miles in all and saw a beaver dam too boot. Lot's of cyclist's including a little girl ona two wheeler with training wheels. There were about 50 motorcycles and 50 old cars for a car show. Bands & food as well! Keep the rubber side down..........

For your info there is a new road opening in Pittsburgh this weekend from the Airport to Rt 22 called the Findley Connector. It will be open to cyclists & runners on Saturday to kickoff the opening. Rides & food will be available all day. Nice ride for kids for sure!
Parking is over by the old airport on Business 60. Road is ~ 6 miles long (one way). My 8 yr old Seth will be riding his new Trek KDR1000 road bike. He is all pumped for sure.

The Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission

once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to bike,
walk, jog, stroll or picnic along the new
Findlay Connector before it opens to
traffic later this fall!
This day-long, family-oriented event will
include a children’s area featuring Mike the
Balloon Guy, guided bus tours, food and informational booths and other attractions along
the new highway!
Directions: Parkway West to Route 60 at the
interchange with Pittsburgh International Airport
(Do not enter the airport). Follow the signs to
the designated parking area. Free parking and
shuttle buses to the main event area will be
available
*No motorized vehicles will be permitted
beyond the parking areas.
